Living up to the Ideals of the Declaration of Independence

250 years ago our Founding Fathers signed a document that famously begins with “We hold these truths to be self-evident that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Happiness”. As we move closer and closer to the two and a half century mark, how are Americans feeling about the United States living up to these ideals?
